12008 - Mestizaje, Genomics, Race and Nation in Latin America

The paper will be an examination of on-going research on the discourses of race and mestizaje as they appear in genomic science that focuses on "ancestry", human diversity and population genetics. The paper focus on how mestizaje and the figure of the "mestizo" figure in this scientific research.
