10078 - George Kubler and the Ancient Maya: from Spinden to Schele

George Kubler studied Middle America with Herbert Spinden at the Institute of Fine Arts in the 1930s, but he would not turn to major questions about the Maya until his 1969 book, Studies in Maya Iconography.
