8262 - Rethinking the modern aesthetic regime in Latin America

This paper will frame the issues at stake in this symposium, as it rethinks the nexus aesthetics /politics in Latin America. Taking as its point of departure Jacques Rancière's contribution to understanding the relationship between the sensible world and its partition, the symposium seeks to understand how artistic practices in Latin America have reconfigured the social at key moments of innovation. Exploring how the sensible appears beyond the sayable, the visible and the audible, can give us clues to better understand artistic practices as dissenting activities that redefine how politics and art give us back the world.
